Ann Laura Anderson (nee Carstensen) was the daughter of Johann (John) Carstensen and Anna Cecelia Petersen. Her father immigrated to the United States from Germany when he was a teenager. Her mother, Anna, was a Native of Nebraska. As a young girl, she grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon, along with her brothers, in the family home on Lake Shore Drive. She attended Klamath Union High School, Klamath Falls, Oregon, where she was the editor of the school's yearbook. Following high school graduation, she took some business courses then set out on the world. She spent some of her time in Reno, Nevada and also San Francisco, California. In 1947, she married Charles Edward Kenyon, in San Francisco, California. It was his second marriage. He worked as a clerk in his family floor covering business, Kenyon Bros. Inc., located on Valencia Street, San Francisco. They made their home at 2720 Alemany Boulevard, San Francisco, California. She raised Charles' daughter June, and together they had a daughter, Marilyn. Following the death of her father-in-law, Roy Kenyon, in 1955, the family relocated to Boulder Creek, California, where Charles took over the family business there. Following her husband's death in 1965, Ann started working for Santa Cruz County auditor's office. She enjoyed her work there. It was here that she met her second husband, Gerald S. Anderson. They married in 1969, Reno, Nevada. It was his second marriage as well. They lived in Santa Cruz, California for about 20 years, then moving to Lake Wildwood, California. Gerry died about one year after moving there. Ann remained in Lake Wildwood, about 15 years, making friends, joining a bridge and women's golf group. In 2004, she moved to Lincoln, California to be closer to her daughter. In 2013, she died there from a progressive illness. |
